Environmental Engineer Skills and Career
Environmental engineering is the application of science and engineering principles to improve the environment, to provide healthy water, air, and land for human habitation and for other organisms, and to remediate polluted sites. Engineer Skills: Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs. Field study to Prepare, review and update environmental investigation and recommendation reports. Design and supervise the development of systems processes or equipment for control, management, or remediation of water, air, or soil quality. Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures. Provide technical-level support for environmental remediation and litigation projects, including remediation system design and determination of regulatory applicability. Other Skills: Ability to multitask, to work under strict deadlines and intense time pressure, flexibility to new ideas, communication and negotiation skills, drive to make things happen and achieve goals, taking on responsibility and ability to motivate others into giving their best. |
Educational Qualifications: Undergraduate and Post-graduate courses both in environmental science and environmental engineering are offered by several institutes across the country. Courses on Environmental Science and Engineering, their duration and qualifications required are given below: B.S.C (environmental science), Duration: 3 years, Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as their subjects. M.S.C (Environmental Science), Duration: 2 years, Eligibility: B.S.C in environmental science, zoology, botany, physics or chemistry.
PG Diploma courses in Environment Management and Environmental Science. B.E in Environmental Engineering, Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as their subjects. M.Tech in Environmental Science & Engineering, Duration: 2 years, Eligibility: B.E / B.Tech. in environmental or civil engineering. M.Tech in Energy & Environment Management, Duration: 2 years, Eligibility: B.E / B.Tech. in environmental or civil engineering. M.Tech (Environmental Engineering), Duration: 2 years, Eligibility: B.E / B.Tech. in environmental or civil engineering.
