The Basic Components of Human hairs are, consist of keratin (a protein), melanin (a pigment) and trace quantities of metallic elements. These elements are deposited in the hair during its growth and/or absorbed by the hair from an external environment. After a period of growth, the hair remains in the follicle in a resting stage to eventually be sloughed from the body. Human hairs are generally consistent in color and pigmentation throughout the length of the hair shaft, whereas animal hairs may exhibit radical color changes in a short distance, called banding. The pigmentation of human hairs is evenly distributed, or slightly denser toward the cuticle, whereas the pigmentation of animal hairs is more centrally distributed, although more dense toward the medulla. Coloring your hair is perhaps the quickest and most dramatic way to change your look. But choosing the right hair color can be a difficult task. Brown eyes and darker hair can wear a wide range of intense colors. Blue eyes and lighter hair take lighter, more delicate colors. Gray or white hair also looks better with delicate colors. Thus, the features 95% of people look at our eyes, hair, and then nose.

Types of Color:

Temporary Color: Lasts until the next wash (unless hair is very porous) Sits on the cuticle of the hair.
Semi-Permanent color: Sits on the cuticle and just inside the cortex.
Quassi-permanent: The molecules of color go into the cortex.
Permanent Color: Goes into the cortex where color molecules are deposited.
Vegetable color: stains the hairs cuticle.
