PC Troubleshooting Basics
Troubleshooting a computer is to find out why something is not working properly in order to fix the problem. Troubleshooting a computer may first require determining whether the problem is of hardware or software.
When an error occurs and you cannot correct the problem, first reboot/restart the computer to see if the problem corrects itself. And Remember, count to ten and let the computer breathe before you restart!
Generally problem arises due to following reasons, Memory conflicts or bad memory, Dirty CD or corrupt files on a floppy, highly fragmented hard drive, Corrupt files of Windows or another program, Virus or spyware, new hardware possible driver issue or setting conflict etc.
If your computer is working slow then check free space on your hard drive, Run scan disk, too many processes possibly spyware running in the background, may be Computer overheating check fans, check recently installed hardware, software or updates.
Won’t see the camera! Or Flash/Pen drives, If not recognized then Remove from the USB slot. Reinsert. If still not recognized try another USB slot. Check on My Computer to see if listed. Check Device Manager to see if USB drives are active. Try again or Reboot with the drive connected to the USB.
Printer Won’t Print! Or Scanner Won’t Scan! Then Check Connections including power, Check Port/USB, Confirm Drivers are up to date.
Thus, If problem not solved, then Identify the Problem, gather the information, The technician will assess the gathered information and he will use experience, logic, reasoning, and common sense to develop a solution for you.
